Green-Schools is Ireland’s leading environmental management and education programme for schools. Promoting long-term, whole-school action for the environment Green-Schools is a student-led programme with involvement from the wider community. The programme is operated and co-ordinated by the Environmental Education Unit of An Taisce (FEE member for Ireland).

The first meeting of the year was held in Room 10 on 28/09/17 and the targets identified for the year were to: -

Appoint Energy Monitors
Litter Pickers
Monitor food disposal and aim to reduce level of waste
Re-introduce recycle bins in classrooms and staff room
Recycle waste materials for Art and crafts
Introduce “Brown Bins” in classrooms and staff room.
Encourage water harvesting both in school and at home.
Reduce water consumption throughout the school.
Class Project work related to Global Citizenship-Energy
W.O.W  6th Class to walk Junior Infants from school gate into school
Action Day-to be decided-No Electricity Day was suggested.
